What are PFAS?
IS YOUR HVAC COATED WITH FOREVER CHEMICALS?
Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) AKA ‘forever chemicals’, are chemicals that resist grease, oil, water, and heat. They were first used in the 1940’s and are now in hundreds of products including stain- and water-resistant fabrics and carpeting, cleaning products, paints, and fire-fighting foams. All PFAS have a strong carbon-fluorine bond and they do not degrade easily.
The widespread use of PFAS and their persistence in the environment means that PFAS from past and current uses have resulted in increasing levels of contamination of the air, water, and soil.
YOU HAVE A CHOICE
More research is needed to fully understand all sources of exposure, and if and how they may cause health problems. In the meantime, we have the power to reduce the impact of PFAS with our choices. It’s important to be aware of the environmental and health risks associated with forever chemicals, and to choose vendors and products that do not contain these substances. Protecall is proud to report zero PFAS in any of the high performance HVAC protective coatings we apply. Be sure to ask about PFAS on your next HVAC project.
